Neumünster, Germany – July 2026 – We have been seeing more and more Wolfskrieger Yggdrasil Precision Tripods at NRL Hunter Italy, and there are few competitions better suited to putting a shooting tripod through its paces.
What is NRL Hunter Italy?
NRL Hunter Italy brings the NRL Hunter format to Italy, combining precision rifle shooting with realistic hunting-style scenarios in natural terrain.
Unlike a traditional precision rifle match where competitors may already know the location and distance of the targets, NRL Hunter stages are blind. Shooters arrive at a stage without having seen the targets beforehand and must locate, identify, range and engage animal-shaped steel targets within a limited amount of time.
Competitors have four minutes when shooting individually and six minutes when competing as a pair to deploy their equipment, find the targets, determine their distances and engage them. Targets typically sit between 300 and 500 meters, but can range anywhere from 100 to 900 meters.

That combination puts much more emphasis on the complete shooting process. Success is not simply about firing an accurate shot. Shooters need to move efficiently, read the terrain, locate targets quickly, range accurately, build a stable position and make good decisions under time pressure.
The equipment philosophy follows the same idea. NRL Hunter is intended to give competitors an opportunity to use equipment they could realistically carry while hunting. Typical equipment includes a backpack, shooting support, binoculars or a spotting scope, rangefinder and sling. The Factory Division also allows competitors to participate with factory rifles rather than requiring a dedicated custom competition rifle.

A natural environment for Yggdrasil
That makes it particularly interesting for us to see so many Yggdrasil Precision Tripods appearing at NRL Hunter Italy.
“NRL Hunter is a great example of what practical precision shooting can look like,” said Leon Kruse, CEO of Arxma GmbH, the holding company behind Wolfskrieger Germany. “You have to find the target, range it, move your equipment and build a position under time pressure. Seeing more and more competitors choosing Yggdrasil for that kind of match is something we are very happy about.”
The Yggdrasil was developed together with North European PRS shooters and snipers around many of the same requirements: stability, usable height, fast deployment and low enough weight to actually carry the tripod through the field.
With forged carbon-fiber construction, 44 mm legs, up to 180 cm of usable height and a weight below 3 kg, Yggdrasil provides a large and rigid shooting platform without the weight normally associated with a tripod of its size.
But at NRL Hunter Italy, the more interesting story is not the specification sheet. It is seeing shooters take the tripod into realistic stages and decide for themselves that it is equipment worth carrying.
